because of the pressure and the pipe being cracked 1,000 ft. below the seabed it has caused the seabed to fracture and there are many leaks -- the oil is rushing into the underlying strata of the seabed and eroding it -- leask springing up everywhere they are considering a nuke, but if that messes up it will make a much worse scenario -- it could cause a much bigger hole and the whole deposit would empty only it would also be radioactive oil and it could cause it to empty very fast -- because the seabed is cracking up everywhere a nuke would probably just make a bigger hole they had a chance to ignite it underwater and burn it off early on, but they wanted the oil i suppose so they did not burn it off if left alone it will eventually collapse but that may or may not take years and will be catastrophic when it does left alone may be the better and really the only choice unless they can relief well drill it but it is really cracking up down there and even that might not be possible
